The First Digital Camera with Projection

For the first time in the world.
The Amazing Nikon Coolpix S1000pj

Introducing the unique Nikon Coolpix S1000pj, the world’s first and currently the only digital camera with a built-in projector. It is a handsome ultra compact digital camera that easily slips into a Jeans pocket or a small fashion purse. Packing the pleasure of a personal go-anywhere theater into a stylish compact enclosure, the COOLPIX S1000pj delivers a fun new way to share pictures with friends and family in most any location. Handling is good and the controls and menu are intuitive to use. It produces average to good image quality. Besides its unique projector, the Coolpix S1000pj has the usual digital camera affair:

• A variety of slideshow effects enhance the fun of the built-in projector
• Five advanced image stabilizing features include ISO 6400, Lens shift VR image stabilization, Electronic VR image stabilization, Motion Detection, and Best Shot Selector
• 12.1 effective megapixels for high-resolution images
• 5x zoom NIKKOR lens
• 2.7-in. high-resolution LCD monitor
• Smart Portrait System with Skin Softening
• Scene Auto Selector provides quick, carefree picture-taking in a variety of situations
• Subject Tracking for automatic tracking
• Quick Retouch for the best balance of contrast and saturation
• D-Lighting adds detail and optimizes exposure to rescue underexposed images
The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj comes with a paltry 36 MB of built-in memory. Unless you usually don’t take more than 10 pictures in a single outing, you would want to use a memory card with the camera. The Coolpix S1000pj takes SD/SDHC cards and a good place to start would be around 2 to 4 GB. As with many of Nikon’s past Coolpix models, I didn’t notice a sizable speed boost when using a ‘high-speed’ card with the camera so if you like, opt to save a few bucks by getting a ‘standard’ card.

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is one of the larger cameras in its class thanks to the additional projector component. Thankfully, it’s still small enough to fit into most pockets (though you will certainly feel the presence of the camera). The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj comes with an above average bundle, which includes two things you typically won’t find in your typical digital camera box: a projector stand and wireless remote control.

Nikon S1000pj User Profile • Desire a 12MP resolution digital camera with average to good image quality. • Want Image Stabilization to prevent blurred pictures due to camera shake. • Want an easy-to-use point-and-shoot digital camera. • Desire a bit more exposure control when facing challenging lighting situations. • Want a compact, carry-anywhere elegant camera. • Want the fun factor of a built-in projector!

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is well designed and intuitive to operate so anyone can use it. The beginner will appreciate the point-and-shoot ease of use as well as the practical features that help obtain well-exposed pictures in challenging situations.

BlackBerry Onyx

Are you happy with your current BlackBerry? Is Barack Obama happy with his old BlackBerry? Will he buy a new BlackBerry Bold 9700 (Onyx)?

There is a new BlackBerry for you. BlackBerry Onyx is similar to the BlackBerry Tour 9630, when you first look at the BlackBerry Onyx you're just not quite sure what you're looking at. The close-together keys with ‘guitar fret' separators scream Bold, yet the overall form factor is much more like the BlackBerry Curve 8900. That's part of the reason it seems weird that the Onyx would be a 9600 device.

In terms of the device's overall dimensions and shape and feel in the hand, it's actually closer to the Curve 8900 than it is to the 9630. Like the Curve 8520, it features a little bit more rubber than were used to seeing, but the rubbery buttons give off a quality feel. And then when you pop off the Onyx's battery cover and see the Bold's battery, the confusion increases even more. With the BlackBerry Onyx it's like RIM simply grabbed the best DNA from each device and tossed it together to make a super baby, which in this case is not a bad thing.

The overall look and feel of the Onyx is slick. I assume the gun metal grey metallic band around the device is actually plastic, but it gives off a more metal-like feel than the silver chrome on the Curve 8900 or 9630 or Bold. The Onyx feels very thin too. While it's overall thickness appears to be the same as the 8900, on the Onyx RIM has made the sides of the device a little less thick and instead of having the display be flush (even slightly lower) than the side rails, with the Onyx the display's edges are bevelled down towards the side rails. It's hard to explain, but overall the device simply feels thin. The Onyx's footprint is much smaller than the Bold's and is even smaller than the 9630.

Specification:

• 3G device - GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS (Bands: 850, 900, 1800, 1900)
• 480 by 360 display, bevelled edges
• 256 megabytes of internal memory (same as Curve 8900, 8520)
• 1550mAh M-S1 battery (same as Bold)
• 3.2 megapixel camera, with flash and auto focus
• Processor: Not 100% sure actually, but am hearing it’s a Tavor processor that may be running even a bit quicker than the Bold's 624MHz processor (definitely seems snappy)
• GPS, WiFi (UMA capable but we'll see what happens there), and all the normal stuff you'd expect on a BlackBerry smartphone

The Onyx reviewed has a trackball, but it is possible that by the time it goes into production that it may feature the optical trackpad found on the Curve 8520. But even with the trackball, the navigation is all good.

There's a little CrackBerry history behind the name BlackBerry "Onyx" that I just had to throw in here for our newer readers who may not be fully aware. Back in April 2008, before the official release of the BlackBerry Bold, the blogosphere referred to the device by its model number, 9000. We knew the BlackBerry 9000 would have to get a brand name, so at that time we held a CrackBerry contest to guess the name of BlackBerry 9000. A short time after, RIM announced the 9000 as the BlackBerry Bold, a name which none of our contestants had guessed. However, we went through the hundreds of names suggested and picked our favourite and gave them a prize anways. And the name we picked as the winner was..... The BlackBerry Onyx!

The good: The RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 boasts a sleeker design that includes an optical trackpad, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a brilliant display. The smartphone is 3G capable and offers Wi-Fi with UMA support, Bluetooth, and GPS. It also gets a faster processor and updates to BlackBerry OS 5.0.

The bad: The BlackBerry browser doesn't compare to the competition. The handset's compact size results in a smaller display and keyboard, but they aren't deal-breakers.

The bottom line: The RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 brings T-Mobile its first 3G BlackBerry and improves on its predecessor with a sleeker design and more power. We only wish it had a better browser to complete the package.

Do you really need to replace your old BlackBerry or you Nokia N Series with this unique Onyx? Don’t forget to see other PDA or smartphone reviews such as: Sony Xperia, Samsung, Motorolla, Nokia N97 Mini, LG, Acer, iPhone and other great brand in cellular phone industry.

Breaking News: 3D Camera

Do you want to replace your digital camera with FujiFilm W1? You can try a brand new 3D Digital Camera? FujiFilm develops a 3D camera that shoots two images and combines them into one. The company's system, called Real 3D, hopes to eliminate the need for glasses by using 3D displays and a 3D film that can be layered over prints.

After a series of development notices, the Fuji 3D system is now getting solidified with actual product announcements, the Fuji 3D W1 camera and the Fuji V1 3D frame! This is a system that is of interest or at least piques the curiosity of photographers and gadgetologists alike. So let's see what Fuji has cooked up for us...

Fujifilm W1 Specs:
- 10.0 million pixels
- 1/2.3-inch CCD x2 sensor
- MPO+JPEG, MPO (Multi Picture Format compatible)
- 3D-AVI (Stereo AVI format with 2 image channels)
- 2D AVI format (Motion JPEG with sound)
- Auto / Equivalent to 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 (Standard Output Sensitivity)
- Internal memory (Approx. 42MB) and SD/SDHC Memory Card.

This sleek-looking camera has two 10mp 1/2.3" CCD sensors and two 3X optical zoom lenses (35-105mm). We have to give Fuji credit for showing megapixel-restraint here. Now, the lenses may not be much in terms of zoom ratio when compared to traditional cameras, but building and synchronizing two lenses on 3D is no easy task!
The camera can take both 3D images and 3D movies.

In addition to the 3D features which are the existential raisin (rough translation of "raison d’ĂȘtre") of this camera, we applaud Fuji for taking advantage of this configuration to offer traditional (2D) photography some additional features, what Fuji calls Advanced 2D mode. This has different settings, for example, "Tele+Wide" allows you to take the same picture at different lens focal ranges. Also, the "color mode" allow you to record the same scene with different "tonalities", such as fujichrome or standard. You can also adjust the "sensitivity" settings between the two sub-systems. The press release barely scratches the surface, so we may have to wait for the user-manual or detailed previews/reviews to find out more about these!

Which way are mobile phone games heading?

Aside online games and static game devices like Playstation, mobile games are the next most popular games around now.

The popularity has grown so big that mobile operators are competing against each other by offering their subscribers loads of both free and paid games for their pleasure. Not only mobile operators, cell phone manufacturers are also pre-programming their phones with a variety of games.

The growing interest in mobile gaming is producing a lot of benefits for the mobile industry. The operators are deriving sizable revenue from selling these games, software developers are regularly deriving royalties from phone manufacturers and the manufacturers themselves are cashing in heavily on revenue from subscribers. You will appreciate the level of income in this are if you consider the fact that by the year 2009, there would be 220 million mobile phone game fans in the world.

Now lets delve into the kinds of games we have around:

We have the embedded games that are factory coded into the phones, SMS games that operate by interacting with a SMS server upon which the game resides and browser games that are played online using the cell phones mini browser. Of all these games the cheapest and most popular is the inbuilt ones though the excitement offered by SMS and online games are not a deterrent to people who would spend every dime to get hooked on. The reason is browser games are of multi-media origin and can be compared to the type experienced on Playstation or xbox.

There are several ways to develop mobile games though the most popular language used are C++, Java and Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW) platform .
Out of these three, Java is the most popular method. The reason is obvious – java is widely supported by the web and supported by all the principal phone manufacturers. Again a medium like J2ME is open source and thus cheap to use as a development medium.
Java as we know it is highly portable across platforms and leaves developers with little worry that their program will not work on certain phones. Programmers choose this language platform because it does not interfere with programs running natively on the phone.

But in reality the future of mobile game development is in MIDP 2.0 API which is a compilation of high end applications that allow developers to come up with sophiscated and highly interactive games for fans. It is fast to use and ensures a stable program after compilation.

It is projected that this program, though futuristic, shall be the standard for mobile game developers for a long time as it exhibits versatility and the quick deployment – qualities programmer love.

Three Super Camera

The Pentax X70 digital camera is not a digital SLR model. It might look and feel like a digital SLR, and it might carry a few high-end features, but it's not a digital SLR. Pentax calls the X70 a "megazoom" model, and it's tough to argue with that
designation, thanks to this digital camera's 24X optical zoom lens, equivalent to a 26-624mm lens. With 12.0 megapixels, the X70 has plenty of resolution for most photographers.

It is larger than most point-and-shoot models currently on the market, but the X70 remains easy to use. The X70 doesn't carry the manual-control features and interchangeable lenses that you'll find on digital SLRs.

Please take a closer look to Nikon CoolPix P6000. 13.5 Megapixels for stunning prints as large as 20 x 30 inches. Sharp resolution captures the finest details, crop creatively and produce incredible enlargements. Incredible, Bright 2.7-inch High Resolution LCD and Optical Viewfinder makes it easy to compose and share your pictures with friends and family. The incorporation of the optical viewfinder enables you to see through the lens in any type of lighting condition.

This Coolpix P6000 also equipped with New GPS capability. This GPS capability wills automatically geo-tag your photos with the exact location of where you shot that picture. Upload pictures directly to my Picturetown, then conduct searches based on the location of where your pictures were taken. You can also view them all at once. A great way to have instant organization of your photos! Plus High Quality TV Movies with Sound is now just a press of a button away with your COOLPIX. Record TV-quality movies with sound; duration is limited only by the available space on your SD/SDHC card. Connect your camera to your TV and you have instant home-movies!

Confused? You can compare Pentax X70 and Nikon Coolpix P6000 with Canon G10. Advanced amateur photographers are a discerning group, and they've flocked to Canon's G-Series for its ability to meet and exceed their demands. The third-generation PowerShot G10 is a stunning successor, loaded with uncompromising specs like 14.7 megapixels, a 28mm wide-angle lens, and Canon's new DIGIC 4 Image Processor for notably improved face and motion detection. This is a camera that supports and nurtures creativity, with a full range of shooting and recording modes and compatibility with exciting accessories including Speedlite flashes. Wow... I am confused too.

iPhone 3GS VS LG enV Touch

The iPhone 3G S doesn't make the same grand leap that the iPhone 3G made from the first-generation model, but the latest Apple handset is still a compelling upgrade for some users. The iPhone 3G S is faster and we appreciate the new features and extended battery life, but call quality and 3G reception still need improvement.

With a built-in digital compass, iPhone 3GS can point the way. Use the new Compass app, or watch as it automatically reorients maps to match the direction you’re facing.

Now you can shoot video, edit it, and share it — all on your iPhone 3GS. Shoot high-quality VGA video in portrait or landscape. Trim your footage by adjusting start and end points. Then share your video in an email, post it to your MobileMe gallery, publish it on YouTube, or sync it back to your Mac or PC using iTunes.

The new 3-megapixel camera takes great still photos, too, thanks to built-in autofocus and a handy new feature that lets you tap the display to focus on anything (or anyone) you want. Voice Control recognizes the names in your Contacts and knows the music on your iPod. So if you want to place a call or play a song, all you have to do is ask.

Do you think that iPhone 3GS a real Blackberry Tour and Nokia N97 contender? Wow.... You must consider other great smart phone such as: The LG enV Touch.

The LG enV Touch is no ordinary messaging phone from Verizon Wireless. It has a brilliant touch-screen display on the outside, a similarly stunning display on the inside, and a spacious QWERTY keyboard that's easy to use. Its features aren't too shabby either, with a great 3.2-megapixel camera, a full HTML Web browser, lots of messaging features including corporate email, and it has the speed of EV-DO Rev. A. Despite a few minor gripes, it's still one of the top Verizon Wireless phones we've seen so far.

Wow....

You can choose this Panasonic Lumix G1 because The LUMIX G1 is as easy to use as a compact digital camera, with the stunning photo quality of a digital SLR camera. It's a new-generation digital interchangeable lens camera that does away with the mirror box and complies with the new Micro Four Thirds System standard. In short, the G1 writes an entirely new chapter in the evolution of the digital interchangeable lens camera.

The Lumix G1 is a great digital camera. Just connect your G1 to an HDTV and you're ready for high definition viewing. If your TV is HDMI* compatible, a single HDMI mini cable (optional) is all you need. HTC Touch Pro VS Nokia N97

HTC and Nokia are both known for their excellent quality mobile phones, which not only charm users with their look, but also deliver high-end performance. So when you have 2 similar mobile phones, from either of the cell phone making giants, you will have a tough time deciding which one is better. The Nokia N97 Mobile Phone and the HTC Touch Pro Mobile Phone are just the best contenders to make for interesting comparison.

Taking a look at the display first, Nokia N97 phone has a 3.5″ touch sensitive screen which offers a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. HTC Touch Pro phone has a smaller 2.8″ screen which is touch sensitive as well. The latter however, offers a higher display resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.

The form factors of both phones are quite similar. They are both slider phones, which slide open to reveal QWERTY keyboards. However, there is a difference. The Nokia model, slides out and upward, such that the screen panel is at an angle to the keyboard panel. This device also has a navigation pad on the keyboard panel and Send, End and Home keys on the screen panel. On the other hand, the HTC model just slides horizontally. There are dedicated keys for Send, End call, Back and Home on the screen panel itself. A navigation pad is present on the screen panel too.
Throwing a glance at the operating systems of these smartphones, Nokia N97 features the Symbian 60 5th Edition OS, while HTC Touch Pro ships with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system.

The networking abilities of these cell phones are quite similar. They both support WiFi networking and Bluetooth connectivity. 3G networking technology is also supported by either of them, with WCDMA standard being compatible. Quad band GSM, GPRS and EDGE capabilities are offered by both the devices too. Nokia offers access to some native services like the Nokia Music Store and Ovi Service. This Ovi feature allows users to get access to a variety of information, including maps, songs, games and more. Another feature called the Social Location feature, lets the user automatically update and let friends, family and other social networks know their location, with the help of the A-GPS receiver and compass housed in this device. The HTC phone incorporates a GPS antenna as well, which uses pre-loaded maps and gives turn-by-turn direction to the destination.

An interesting difference between the cell phones lies in their memory capacities. The HTC Touch Pro phone offers a user memory of 288MB internally. On the other hand the Nokia N97 phone has a humongous (hold your breath) 32GB of internal memory! Either phones have memory expansion options with the microSD card reader slots.
Connections wise, both these smartphones score high. The HTC Touch Pro phone offers a HTC ExtUSB connection which acts as a 3-in-1 link for a mini USB 2.0 port, a audio jack and a TV output. There are built-in microphone and speaker too. The Nokia N97 phone features a microUSB jack, a 3.5 mm audio jack also used for TV output, and built-in stereo speakers. FM radios have been integrated in both phones.
Another striking difference are the cameras that these devices offer. The Nokia phone has a built-in 5MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash. The HTC phone, on the other hand has a 3.2 Megapixel camera, with auto-focus and flash. There is a secondary VGA CMOS camera as well in this device.

On the measurements and weight front - the Nokia N97 Smartphone measures 117.2 mm x
55.3 mm x 15.9 mm and weighs 150g. The HTC Touch Pro Smartphone measures 102 mm x 51 mm x 18.05 mm and weighs 165g. Thus, the Nokia handset is longer, wider, thinner and lighter than the HTC handset. Price wise, however, Nokia N97 carries a slightly heavier tag than the HTC Touch Pro.

PS: Don't forget to compare with other brand such as: Samsung Omnia, LG Renoir, iPhone, Blackberry Storm or sony ericsson xperia x1, etc.
